- I bought the SONY ICD-BX800 to record the tutor on a French course I’m attending. It is easy to use and produces very clear recording even across a crowded lecture theatre.
- Bad Points
- It would have been great to have a USB socket to connect directly to my computer – but that’s a minor point.

- Originally recommended to me by a friend, I bought this device for making spontaneous voice recordings and, as a composer, for getting down musical ideas. With its ‘pop-it-in-your-pocket’ size, ease of use, sound quality and incredible value for money, this recorder is excellent for this purpose. You never know what it can come in handy for.
It is perhaps unnecessary for me to say that this recorder does not have a USB connection, nor is the sound in the region of broadcast quality; but if that is what you are after, you will need to go for an alternative device (and which can come at an alternative price!)
For readily capturing stuff and then using it later as a source for whatever project you’re doing, theSony ICDBX800 is a little gem.
May I clarify that in spite of having no USB connection it is still possible to transfer material to your computer. I have successfully experimented with connecting the device from the green earphone socket to my computer, capturing and recording the sound with my audio editing program and then saving it as an .mp3 file. I use the excellent and free program, Audacity. - Bad Points

- Good Points
- Large clear buttons. So easy to use... didn't need instructions. I like the battery-saving function, which I've not had on previous recorders. I use it for going through my lines (for amateur dramatics) and it's perfect for that purpose. Haven't used editing functions, so can't comment. The price was excellent too.

- Baffling instructions. All I've managed to do is set up to simply record when I press the button! I haven't yet understood how to use most of what it does. Are all these features really wanted by consumers? This really is Rocket Science"

- Купил диктофон в интернет-магазине.Доставил солидный в возрасте человек,который мне ответил "да",инструкция на русском на бумаге и на диске.Оказалось,что ни того ни другого нет.В коробке больше десятка книжечек на всех языках,кроме русского.Диска нет.Я запросил инструкцию в интернете,зарегистрировав свою покупку.Ответ был-вроде того что у нас такого номера не числится,и инструкцию скачать не дали. Не пользуюсь.Не умею. Герман Москва
