Good Points
One of the great truths about smartphones is that you should always match a phone to your actual needs. The Nokia 5230, despite falling short of expectations, is an intelligent device that offers a wealth of unique features. Whether these features match your needs is the real question. No, the Nokia 5230 is not an iPhone or HTC Desire competitor, but does have some powerful features.

What you don't get is Wi-Fi, and that is one of the major problems with this device. Wi-Fi is useful because it means you can continue using the device inside when your carrier service goes AWOL or when you want to download huge files.

The Nokia 5230 also lacks a full hardware keyboard, runs a bit slow at times, has a confusing turn-by-turn voice nav for GPS routing (although the phone supports many languages), low camera quality at just 2 megapixels, and a few minor glitches.

Good Points
looks good
has interchangeable coloured back
increase storage with a sd card
good speakers and pc connectivity
great battery life
Bad Points
some great phones out there for a few more pounds with better touch screens than this nokia it almost feels as if you have to push the screen to get it to react. Also it takes about five steps to create and sense a message to some one. Ovi store (say no more) . User interface very long and winded compared to the new android system which you can find on the galaxy mini or ace.

As I always go for nokia fones they are easy to use always keeping to the same format, not filled with comercial applications that make the fone confusing and use up battery life, they are functional and practical, and you can still easily use the internet quickly and efficently and the touch screen far supasses the iphone touch screen.
Bad Points
none that I have yet found.

Good Points
The Nokia 5230 came with 3 inter-changeable cases which was superb, the phone is easy to use and ha brilliant features and has flash lite 3.1 incorporated within the web browser which made it easier to view flash in-bedded web pages. The applications on the phones are useful and there is a potential to increase the memory to 16GB which is a fantastic option.
The design is beautiful and the phone fits well with the user. To me it feels like a mini IPhone.
Internet is super fast, Videos play very well, the camera is awesome and the touch screen is very adaptive and receptive.
Bad Points
Within the package there was no usb cable to allow phone and computer interaction, so you will have to buy one or find an old one. (on use blue tooth dongle instead). The battery life is terrible this would have to be the greatest weakness of the phone. If you don't use your phone for anything apart from calling texting and light browser, then it should last a whole day and a half, but if you are a heavy user of the applications then, be expected to deplete the battery life is less than 4 hours. It would be ideal to carry your charger around or and extra charged battery o you, just in case you need it.
The internal memory is only 70mb and the phone may come or may not come with added memory card, but either way it is advisable to do a quick upgrade to at least a 2GB or a 4GB depending on you usage. The Volume on the phone is very average boarding poor to be honest, the only way you can redeem this problem is to get proper ear phones which will at the least improve on base, treble and loudness. The last bad point would have to be the removablity of the memory card, it is extremely difficulty to get the memory card out, and you risk damaging the card (like i did). I found an online method how to remove the card, I was simply advised to find a grove, lift the card slightly with little pressure and pull slow to jerkily. If this method is executed well you wont lose a memory card like i did.
